Benefits of Yoga

Yoga poses help to strengthen the muscles and ligaments of the body, and provide flexibility.  They encourage full range of movement in the joints and improve our general alignment and posture.  Yoga also brings poise and balance to the body by practicing certain yoga poses that require stability and steadiness.  The systems of the body benefit therapeutically and function more efficiently and there is an overall improvement in the practitioners general health, both physical and mental.

When practicing yoga asanas, the mind is focused on the breath as well as the alignment and placing of the body.  This requires concentration and total presence in the moment, paving the path to a fruitful meditation practice.
